Vasyl Sheiko was awarded the Order of Merit of the 1st (2007), 2nd (2004) and 3rd (2002) Class, the Certificate of Honour of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2004), Silver (2009) and Gold medals of the AUC (2012), and other medals.
Position: Advisor to the Rector of the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture.Author (co-author) of more than 600 scientific publications, including 60 monographs, textbooks, and manuals. Among his graduates are People's Artists and Honoured Artists of Ukraine, PhD Candidates and PhDs in Science. Due to the efforts of V. Sheiko, student creative teams in many types and genres of art were created, which have trained more than 200 winners of international and national competitions and festivals.
V. Sheiko is a leading scholar in the field of theory and history of culture, the founder and universally recognised leader of the artistic and cultural studies school of Ukraine, the inspiration for the significant achievements of the higher education institution, a talented, bright researcher who, through his own example, inspires many generations of scholars to work fruitfully and diligently in the field of science. Owing to V. Sheiko's activities, Kharkiv State Academy of Culture is the only higher educational institution of culture in Ukraine to have joined the European Association for Library and Information Education and Research (EUCLID).
V. Sheiko's scientific achievements and creative activity are widely covered in specialised cultural publications and the media. Major works: ten-volume edition "History of Ukrainian Culture" (co-authored, 1997-2003), two-volume edition "History of Ukrainian Artistic Culture" (1999-2003), two-volume monograph edition "Culture. Civilisation. Globalisation (late 19th - early 21st centuries)" (2001), "Historical and Cultural Aspects of Psychoanalysis" (2001), "History of Ukrainian Culture" (2001), textbook "Organisation and Methods of Research Activity" (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), textbook "History of Culture" (2004), monograph "Formation of the Foundations of Cultural Studies in the Age of Civilisational Globalisation (second half of the 19th - early 21st centuries)" (2005, co-authored), monograph "Evolution of Artistic and Literary Associations of Ukraine: Historical and Cultural Dimension" (2008, co-authored), the monograph "Culture and Civilisation in the Historical and Cultural Thought of Ukraine in the Age of Globalisation" (2009, co-authored), the monograph "Philosophy of the Ukrainian National Idea and Mykola Khvylovy: Historical and Cultural Aspect" (2010, co-authored), monograph "Culture of Ukraine in the Dimension of Globalisation and Civilisation (Historical and Methodological Aspects)" (2011), "History of Ukrainian Culture" (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, co-authored), "History of Culture of Sloboda Ukraine" (2012, co-authored), "Cultural Studies" (2012, co-authored), "Scientific Creativity in the Field of Cultural Studies and Art History" (2016, co-authored), "Cultural and Art History Research: Theory and Methodology" (2020, co-authored), monograph "Intellectuals and Authorities during the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921" (2020).
From 1989 to 2022, he was the rector of the Kharkiv State Institute of Culture (now the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture).From 2006 to 2022 - the Chairman of the Expert Council on Art History of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine.

Biography

● 1942 — born on 9 May in Okhtyrka, Sumy region
● 1963 — graduated from the Bilhorod Music College with a degree in Folk Instruments.
● 1968 — graduated from Kharkiv State Institute of Culture with a degree in Cultural and Educational Work ● 1968—1971 - postgraduate student at the Institute of History of the USSR Academy of Sciences ● Since 1971, he has been working at the Kharkiv State Institute of Culture 
● Since 1989 - Rector of the Kharkiv State Institute of Culture (now Kharkiv State Academy of Culture)
● Since 2006 - Chairman of the Expert Council on Art History of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine
● 2002 – elected a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine
● 2017 – Academician of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine
